Designer's Showcase Meet the Artist ... Terry Scott Terry Scott has always enjoyed working with wood, first as a builder and property developer, and then as a woodturner. He says that New Zealand has an enthusiastic woodturning community, perhaps because the native timber is plentiful and highly figured, and the forests and shorelines inspirational. Terry enjoys creating pieces that require planning, discovering unique ways of holding the wood, and those that raise the “how was that done?” question. His signature pieces involve two, three, or four wings on a textured bowl or lidded box, but he continues to take his enjoyment of unique forms and surface treatments in other directions as well, creating pieces that reflect a broad range of approaches and techniques. |
