2 ½" X 14" basswood blank (or species of choice)
epoxy or polyurethane glue (optional)
½" copper plumbing end cap
assorted grits of abrasive paper
¼" x 2½" metal rod or dowel

BOTTLE STOPPER TRIMMING JIG

Table saw
lathe with a 4-jawed chuck and a small skew
drill chuck and either a 9/16" or ⅝" spade bit
ruler
bandsaw with fence
either a belt or disc sander

SUPPLIES NEEDED:
1 piece, 1½" x 3" x 7" construction grade pine

RED MALLEE TEXTURED STARBURST BOWL

TOOLS NEEDED:
Scroll chuck, 2 ½” jaws
Standard drive spur
Live tailstock center
Dividers, steel rule
½” bowl gouge with a swept back grind
⅜” bowl gouge with a square grind
⅝” skew and ⅜” round skew (not critical)
¼” parting tool
carver's vise with chuck adapter (or tool post adapter)
reciprocating carver and blades (or carver's gouges)
Dremel tool (or equivalent) and a ⅝” diameter by 1/16” toothed cutter on an arbor
     (like a small circular saw blade only relatively thicker re-ground to a 45° edge.
     Carefully touch each side of the rotating cutter to a grind stone until the edge is V-shaped
     but the cutter teeth are still intact)

Round microplane tool
5” vacuum chuck
Drill press, 1¼” Forstner bit
2” sanding arbor and sanding discs (up to 600 grit or higher)
white 3M buffing pad (non-abrasive) or white diamond buffing compound

MATERIALS USED:
Red Mallee burl cap (roughly oval shaped, about 2½" x 9" x 14")
WaterLox finish or finish of choice
Cheese cloth
Wet-or-dry 600 grit abrasive paper
