Finishing Material:
Various sanding discs down to 600 grit.**

Zinsser Seal Coat (1 lb. cut de-waxed shellac)

Pepper/salt grinder mechanism,
Assorted grits of abrasive paper,
Sanding sealer and friction polish or finish of choice

Center finder (optional)
Lathe with assorted chisels
4-jawed chuck
Live center
Jacob's chuck
Steady Rest
1" and 1-1/2" Forstner bits with 8" extension;
1/4" drill bit
Small screwdriver
Buffing system (optional).

Brass Bullet Pencil

.30/06 or similar caliber shell casing (new or spent)
Slimline pencil kit: Your choice of finish*
7mm brass tube, 10” long (Penn State)**
One piece of heat shrink tubing*** 1/4” diameter by 1/4” long
5-minute epoxy glue
Assorted grits of abrasive paper
Brasso brass polish and cotton rag

TOOLS NEEDED:
Lathe
Pen mandrel and 7mm bushings
4-jaw chuck or collet chuck
Jacob’s chuck
7mm drill
Carbide pen barrel trimmer
Pen insertion tool
Heat gun or other heat source
Safety glasses or face shield.

Poor Man's Ebony

Light Mineral Oil *
Several pieces of very rusted steel (nails, old fence, etc) the rustier the better.
Small broken up pieces of steel wool (4-5 pieces).
Small glass jar with plastic lid.
Mineral spirits
White vinegar
Small pieces of cotton rags
Vinyl or rubber gloves
Eye protection

*Light mineral oil is available at Tractor Supply Company stores nationwide or any farm store that sells veterinary supplies.
